Sabrina Kones, PMHNP-BC, LCSW

Sabrina grew up in Cypress, TX and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, graduating with a Master of Science in Social Work in 2004. Practicing as a clinical social worker in emergency departments and psychiatric hospital settings for 15 years, Sabrina gained a first- hand understanding of the mental health needs of the community. She recognized the shortage of providers in Central Texas, with gaps in treatment resulting in unnecessary delays in care and crisis escalation. Ever a Longhorn, Sabrina returned to UT-Austin seeking to help close these gaps in treatment and obtained a Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. While at University of Texas School of Nursing, Sabrina was an Integrated Behavior Health Scholar focusing on collaborative care and healthcare equity, as well as spotlighted for research in disparities among psychiatric hospital admissions.

Sabrina strives to offer patients a non-judgmental, affirming space to explore their needs and discuss the most effective treatment plan. Her extensive background at Seton Shoal Creek Hospital and as Social Work Lead at the Dell Seton Psychiatric Emergency Department has provided a strong foundation in fostering holistic mental wellness. In addition to her experience. in hospitals and emergency departments, she has worked in crisis response to critical incidents such as Hurricane Katrina helping those in crisis regain their psychological balance.

As both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Sabrina has a unique perspective for assessment, therapeutic intervention, psychopharmacological management, and treatment planning that provides patients with the opportunity for long-term wellbeing. In her free time, Sabrina enjoys all things music, fantasy football, cartoons, poetry, kayaking, and spending time with family, friends, and dog who is a very good boy.
